How does a slip ring for current transmission work?

In combination with a brush, a slip ring can be used for current transmission or also for signal transmission by establishing a sliding contact. In this process, a fixed and a rotating object meet. In practice, there are usually two components, one of which is fixed and the other is set in motion during commissioning. For a slip ring to be used for current transmission, it must be made of the appropriate material. For high current, starting materials such as brass with silver graphite or carbon brushes are used. Many precious metals are also suitable for making a slip ring for signal and current transmission. However, gold and silver are used more for low power applications. This has the advantage of producing a particularly low-wear slip ring. The low current transmission can thus be guaranteed for many years without major maintenance.

In power engineering, a slip ring is used for current transmission, whereby it can find its specific application in many areas. Slip Ring Product range

TDS Precision Products GmbH has a wide variety of products available for you in its product range. We offer encapsulated and open slip rings in various standard designs. For example, you can find an encapsulated slip ring for current transmission in the "EST Series". It forms the standard type with ten amps and 600 volts. Depending on your needs, you can choose between six and 24 rings. Some models transmit both current and signals and are therefore suitable as combination slip rings. These include the "ESM Series", which provides up to 52 rings. A modular, open slip ring for current transmission up to 20 amperes can be found in the "E Series". It convinces with high durability and uses a hollow shaft between 25 and 60 millimeters.
