In many electronic applications, fibre optics provide light for indicators and displays. We offer the industry a wide range of rigid and flexible light guides that provide the right solution for almost any application. The light guides can be purchased in a variety of shapes and lengths from 2.4 mm to 914.4 mm.

A light guide is a cost-effective, space-saving and loss-free transmission of light from a light source or LED. The LED is mounted on a printed circuit board and its light is guided to the exit point via a light guide. Flexible light guides with bendable light guides or rigid light guides with a fixed light guide body are used.

All light guides are made of UL-certified materials. The rigid versions can be installed both on the housing of the application and on the PCB itself. In contrast, flexible light guides are always permanently connected to the PCB. We will advise you individually and comprehensively regarding the appropriate light guides.

Advantages of our LED Light Pipes

Rigid light pipes are available in a wide range of designs, heights and lens shapes, through to multi-lens or multi-pipe bodies. Flexible light pipes offer the electrical designer almost every conceivable freedom of installation. Because the light is conducted through a flexible cable, the length of the cable can be chosen at will and the LED can be placed almost anywhere on the PCB. In addition, obstacles on the PCB play a secondary role with flexible light pipes.

Applications for rigid fibre optics

Rigid light guides are ideal for transmitting light over short distances. There is a wide range of designs and heights as well as options for single, double and multiple lenses. The EPV3 series with ZeroLightBleedTM technology is particularly eye-catching, as its special design means there is no stray light between the light source and the LED. The light guides in the EPV3 series have lengths from 8.9 mm to 50.8 mm. They are available with a transparent dome or flat-face lens (Ø 3 mm) and a base for direct mounting on the PCB.

Application area of flexible light guides

The flexible light guides give the designer the greatest possible flexibility during installation. This light guide consists of a light guide, a cap and an adapter. The adapter causes little or no stray light. The flexible light guides can be ideally placed on the PCB and can be purchased in standard lengths from 63.5 mm to 914.4 mm and can also be used for SMD LEDs. Flexible light guides can be used on PCBs where there are obstacles between the light source and the exit point.
