Reliable SPF/SPFH encoders for space-saving designs

08.02.2024

Precision in a compact package! Explore the groundbreaking SPF and SPFH encoders – perfect for medical technology, measurement, and robotics.

Incremental Encoders

The new SPF and SPFH optical incremental encoders offer a wide range of resolutions in confined spaces. Whether in a fixed or hollow version: thanks to their extremely compact design, these encoders are the ideal solution for demanding applications. The variants with ball bearings guarantee a particularly long service life, while the models with plain bearings are ideal for applications with manual control.

The micro-optical encoders have a housing diameter of just 16 mm and a housing depth of just 9.83 mm (SPF) for the fixed shaft and 8.92 mm (SPFH) for the hollow shaft. Due to their resolutions of 250 to 4096 pulses per revolution, these encoders are particularly suitable for use in industries such as medical technology, measurement technology, device technology and robotics, where the available space is often very limited.

Depending on requirements, the SPF with fixed shaft can be used either with ball bearings for maximum service life or with plain bearings. The plain bearing variant offers a selection of shaft torques that ensure a pleasant tactile rotation lock during manual operation. Thanks to the wide range of shaft diameters of 3.175 mm, 6 mm and 6.35 mm, the SPF can also be used in applications that are usually intended for potentiometers.

The SPFH with hollow shaft utilises the shaft of the application and, depending on the number of pulses, enables maximum actuating force to be achieved.
