Potentiometers
Benefit of our many years of experience
The potentiometer, or short potentiometer, has been used as an input element and sensor since the beginning of commercial use in electrical engineering. And the potentiometer is still by far the most widely used angle sensor technology. There are many reasons that speak for "potentiometers" in new projects as well. Precision potentiometers are used as setpoint generators and as position sensors for industrial applications and in device and vehicle construction. They differ from low-cost potentiometers primarily in their significantly more precise electrical and mechanical tolerances, significantly increased service life and high reliability. In principle, however, all potentiometers have a so-called resistance element with a movable wiper contact that taps a voltage potential on a resistance path. An absolute analog signal is immediately available without switch-on delay and calculation times.
Conductive Plastic Potentiometer
The core element of the conductive plastic potentiometer is a conductive plastic resistance element. This is also where the name of this potentiometer comes from. A big advantage over other potentiometer technologies is the continuous signal output which is possible due to the conductive plastic and which has an almost infinite resolution. Compared to our wire potentiometers, a significantly longer service life is achieved and the actuation speed is also significantly higher at max. 400Udr. /min. Our conductive plastic potentiometers have excellent independent linearities of up to 0.05%.
Our product portfolio includes a very large selection of conductive plastic potentiometers in bushing/servo flange and hollow shaft versions.

Wirewound Potentiometers
Our wire potentiometers are available in bushing- or servo flange versions with their special properties. A wide range is available with or without mechanical stop, with optional rear shaft, centre tap(s) and in tandem / multi-turn versions. On request we offer many adaptations such as axle modifications, special torques, sealed housings, special electrical and mechanical rotation angles, special resistance and linearity tolerances, assembly of drive wheels and other mechanical parts, assembly of cables and connectors.

Hybrid Potentiometers
With hybrid potentiometers, a conductive plastic coating is applied over the wire winding. The conductive plastic layer on the wire creates a continuous signal without steps that bridges the potential differences of the winding jump. They have the advantages of the aforementioned potentiometer technologies and are available as multiturn versions. In addition, these potentiometers have a considerably longer service life, higher maximum adjustment speeds and lower signal noise than wire potentiometers due to the smooth resistance track.
